Most of my friends know that I am a Manchester United fan. I’ve been supporting them since I was in Standard 3. Don’t call me a glory hunter please as I’ve never supported any other team besides Man United. I know this entry has nothing to do with technology but I can’t just sit down and do nothing.

The Manchester United players, led by Sir Alex Ferguson were here in Malaysia for their Asia Tour and thanks to Nike’s PR company, Priority Communications, I scored media passes to the press conference and got upclose but not too personal with Darren Fletcher, Darron Gibson, Rio Ferdinand and Nani.

The four players were whisked in to the air conditioned VIP and Media tent, had a few photos taken, answered a few question and they were then whisked off.

We then went outside to watch the final of Nike5 between two groups of youngsters and just before the finals, the Man United players appeared from the top, complete with smoke and stuff. The audience were very surprised as they made an “unannounced” entrance. The audience didn’t know that they’ll be making an appearance.

They sat at the VIP corner and watched the Finals. When winner emerged, they took on the Man United players to a 4 vs 5 game.  Ferdinand scored a SUPERB goal but I think the players were not used to the smaller than usual goals and the tiny court.

It’s not all play and no work for the players as they and Nike Malaysia presented a mock cheque of RM50,000 to Hope Worldwide’s Football for Hope program.

Overall, it was a really good experience and I’d like to thank Nike Malaysia for inviting me to the event.

P.S. I’ll be watching the match between Manchester United Vs Malaysian Selection tomorrow at Bukit Jalil tomorrow. No, no media pass this time, I paid RM98 for it.

I use my Facebook on both devices and I loved the one on the iPhone more when I first started using it.  The one on the Bold was just horrendous.  I didn’t know what was I looking at.

Facebook released a new Facebook v1.6 a few weeks back and I hesitated to install it on the Bold but since it’s free, I figured, “What the heck”.  I wasn’t expecting a lot from the Facebook app but boy was I wrong!

It now has the new feeds feature everytime you open the app.  I can now see my highlights, Status and recent activities of my friends at one glance. I can also view my friends’ Wall on the app itself.  It used to direct you to their mobile site in order to view it.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse release

On thing I liked the most is the Photo feature.  Gone are the bland and tasteless interface and it comes with the new, enhanced UI.  I can now click on my friends’ photo albums, and it brings me to this screen where I can scroll through thumbnails and just click on whichever photo I want to view.

Oh yeah, it also integrates my friends’ contact details into the bold, so I don’t have to type and sync everything in again, really nice touch there.

I still see room for improvement so let’s hope that Facebook v1.7 will pack a whole lot of features!

We were fortunate enough to attend the preview of Research In Motion’s BlackBerry Storm, hosted by Maxis at he Maxis tower recently. Yes, we got to feel and touch the BlackBerry Storm even before the people that pre-booked laid their hands on it!

Being the first touch screen device from RIM, they have to come up with a unique way to differentiate themselves from other touch screen devices. Deemed as the first “clickable” touch screen device in the world, the 3.25 inch capacitive touch screen is like a trackpad button on your laptop, you’ll need to touch the item you want and click on it to register the selection. The large screen will also be perfect to play videos and view pictures on it. It’s 480 x 360 screen resolution makes the stuff displayed crisp and clear too.

The Storm also boasts a 3.2 megapixel camera with and a built in GPS receiver. The combination of these two also creates another feature, Geo-Tagging. All pictures taken by the camera is appended coordinate locations and you’ll be able to see where a particular picture was taken.

The Storm will be sold together with Maxis’ Value Plus 150 call plan for RM2,199, or if you opt to just purchase the Storm, it’ll cost you RM2,499.
