First announced at Consumer Electronics Show 2019, Acer’s Triton 500 gaming laptop has made its way to Malaysia. This is one of those highly anticipated Nvidia RTX-equipped gaming laptops that provide you more than enough power to run the latest games, in a relatively portable form-factor.
Of course, this means that one of the major selling points of this laptop is its lightweight and slim chassis. Measuring merely 17.9mm in thickness and weighing only 2.1kg, which is considerably light for a gaming laptop of its class, you can easily slip it into your backpack to take on the go and yet not feel too much weight on your shoulders. This makes it ideal for students, creative professionals, and even live-streamers.
Under the hood, the Triton 500 sports some impressive hardware. You get either an Intel Core i5-8300H or Core i7-8750H CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (Max-Q) or RTX 2070 (Max-Q) GPU, 16GB (2x 8GB, upgradable) of DDR4 RAM, and 512GB (2x 256GB in RAID 0) of PCIe NVMe SSD storage. You’ll also get to enjoy a 15.6-inch IPS display that can output Full HD resolution at 144Hz and 3ms response time, excellent for playing fast-paced games like CS:GO. Killer Wireless-AC for WiFi and a Gigabit-Ethernet port covers your internet connectivity, so you can always get the best network performance for your games.
To be able to deliver that much performance in such a slim chassis could make the machine warmer than preferred, thus Acer equipped the Predator Triton 500 with the brand’s 4th Gen Aeroblade 3D technology. Inside, fans with metal blades called bionic blades generate 45% more airflow compared to normal fans and yet are also 35% quieter. Five heat pipes are connected to the fans, drawing heat from the core components to keep them cool.
Aside from that, the Triton 500 also comes with a 3-zone RGB-backlit keyboard to spice things up, making your gaming sessions a lot more colourful (literally!) It also comes with a Turbo key on the upper left corner, which is essentially a one-press-overclock button. If you want to have a bit more control, the PredatorSense software can be launched by pressing the dedicated key on the upper right corner of the keyboard. This software allows you to monitor hardware temperature and fan speed, or tweak the fan speed and clock speeds for the system.
You can now purchase one variant of the Acer Predator Triton 500 from Acer’s online store or authorised resellers. Specifically, the model with Intel Core i5-8300H and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (Max-Q), which will retail for RM6,799. There’s also one model that comes with an Intel Core i7-8750H with Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (Max-Q), as well as one with Intel Core i7-8750H with Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 (Max-Q). This two will be available in April 2019 for RM7,599 and RM8,699 respectively.
