Box Of Booms

Are you ready to party? Because you can’t be ready without first getting a powerful sound system to spit out beats. Daisy chaining smaller speakers seems to be a growing trend, especially if you need something portable. But if you don’t mind something big that is still portable, then Altec Lansing has a speaker that could very well suit you.

All you need to control the Xpedition is up front

All you need to control the Xpedition is up front

Enter the Altec Lansing Xpedition 8, which Altec Lansing touts as the largest and loudest portable Bluetooth speaker. It features dual 8-inch woofers and three 1-inch tweeters with a peak power of 420W, and that’s loud. The speaker body is built tough and sturdy, reminding us of Pelican cases a little bit. You can also use the speaker in two different orientations whether it’s standing up or laying on its side. With just this speaker alone you get a full stereo experience, but if you want to get an even bigger stereo experience, you can link an additional Xpedition to get a pair of stereo speakers blasting music your way.

The Xpedition was designed to be able to play media from different inputs so that anyone can just connect their device and play music instantly. To make this possible the Xpedition supports NFC, Bluetooth and AUX input, allowing for a large variety of devices to be used. When brought outdoors for a party or at the poolside, the IP67 waterproof rating ensures that you can enjoy your music without worrying about the Xpedition being splashed by water and even a little rain wouldn’t be a problem.

You can charge the Xpedition with a power outlet or a car with the provided car adapter cable

If you’re wondering how the Xpedition sounds, we can say that it sounds great. For a portable party speaker, it gives great sound quality while having that extra heavy bass that people look for in a party speaker. Before we forget, the Xpedition comes with a built-in battery that lasts pretty long. Also, on the back there’s a sealed port that you can open to reveal the AUX input, as well as the DC-in port for charging the battery.

CHIP CONCLUDE: Pump it up and party on with the Altec Lansing Xpedition 8, a great portable speaker for parties of just about any size.
