The WH-1000XM3 is Sony’s latest pair of wireless headphones and on the 27th of November, they showed off the device along with a few other Malaysian celebrities and personalities. We also managed to get our hands on these prestigious headphones to review, so you can check it out in our upcoming Dec 2018 issue.
The headphones are designed to be an around the ear model, and comes jam packed with features that many loved with the previous iteration (WH-1000XM2) while adding and improving a few other tricks, most notably the noise cancelling capabilities of the headphones. These headphones are now developed with a new HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN1 that according to Sony, is four times better than the previous processor. It is completely capable of eliminating noise such as background noises and human voices. Coupled with the Dual Noise Sensor technology that utilises two microphones that pass down the sound data which then cancels the noise.
Yang Cheng, the Head of Video and Sound at Sony Electronics mentioned: “We are proud to deliver the third generation of our industry-leading noise cancelling headphones. Our latest model takes noise cancelling to the next level with Sony’s innovative QN1 processor to deliver only your favourite music and nothing else.”
If you still wish to hear plane or train announcements when you are waiting for your ride, that is doable as well. All you’ll need to do is turn on the Adaptive Sound Control feature that will automatically detect your surrounding and adjust the music accordingly. This means that you’ll still be able to immerse yourself in your music, while having the ability to listen to announcements or outside noise. This is capable thanks to the SENSE ENGINE that can be customised with the Sony Headphones Connect App.
Another smart addition they’ve added to the headphones is with the ability to talk or converse with people with your headphones on. All you need to do is place your palm over the right side of the earcup to decrease the music instantly, respond and once you take your hands off the earcup, it is back to music nirvana again.
The headphones are designed to deliver exceptional high-quality audio based on the 40mm driver unit with a Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP) diaphragm that can handle beats and produce frequencies up to 40kHz. The new 1000XM3 are slimmer and weighs less than the predecessor, a marvel of engineering with the plethora of features added to it. The headphones are comfortable to use even in the long run thanks to its deeper earcups and thicker headbands. It can also last up to 30 hours, and using the USB Type-C port, charging the headphones for just 10 minutes can make it last for 5 hours.
The Sony WH-1000XM3 is now available to purchase from all authorised retailers or official Sony Stores, and is priced at RM1,599. It comes in two colours of Black or Platinum Silver.
