Over the years, more and more games are being released, and taking a look at the Steam store, you can even get up to 100 games being released in a day. But, the guys at PlayStation are not looking at being just a service for you to play your games, but instead, looks to be the console for everyone to get their hands on – to be available at all homes for all their media needs. Want to binge on your favourite shows on Netflix? Check. Play games? Check. Stream on? Check. PlayStation consoles are beloved by all, especially by the CHIP Team.
To commemorate 525.3 million units of consoles sold worldwide, Sony Interactive Entertainment Hong Kong Limited Singapore Branch (SIES) announced a new edition of the PlayStation 4 Pro console, the “PlayStation 4 Pro 500 Million Limited Edition”. But, there’s a catch – there’s only 50,000 units of this limited edition console, making it one of the rarest ones that Sony has released. It comes packed with a 2TB drive as well.
The original PlayStation was released in Japan on the 3rd of December 1994, and ever since then, Sony has never looked back and instead, released more and more consoles for gamers. The original console was succeeded by the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and the PlayStation 4. John Kodera, the SIE President and CEO said: “I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the continued support from our fans and business partners, who have all contributed to PlayStation’s rich history. Without our passionate community, we would not have been able to surpass this remarkable milestone of 500 million units. PlayStation 4 Pro 500 Million Limited Edition has been created to represent our appreciation to our loyal fans. We will continue to make PlayStation the best place to play for all, as does our continued commitment to expanding our library of great games and variety of network services.”
The console is dressed in a dark translucent blue design that allows you to peek into the inner workings of the console. Aside from the console, the bundled DUALSHOCK 4 controller also sports the same design, along with the included PlayStation Camera, Vertical Stand and Mono headset. All of them will come with this new look that we absolutely adore. If you are not interested in a new console, the bundled DUALSHOCK 4 controller is also available to purchase separately – also in limited quantities.
The PlayStation 4 Pro 500 Million Limited Edition is available to purchase from authorised Sony stores at a retail price of RM2,149. The separate DUALSHOCK 4 can be purchased for RM259. Both will be available come August 24th this year. We can’t wait to get our hands on this absolutely enticing console, and who knows, we might even play the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man on it!
