Today, Sony Malaysia brought us to Skyrides Putrajaya to take their new camera, the RX100 VI for a spin at the theme park. We managed to grab ourselves some pretty good shots with this compact camera!
The RX100 VI is equipped with a 20.1-megapixel Exmor RS CMOS sensor with a 3:2 aspect ratio, with a new ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 24-200mm F2.8-4.5 lens that allows for maximum resolution with clarity even when using it while zoomed. It then uses the BIONZ X processing engine that provides higher resolution with low noise levels, along with precise face and eye detection.
Utilising High-density Tracking AF Technology, it can keep up with your fast moving subjects even if they are changing directions. While Eye AF will keep track of your subject’s eyes for better portrait shots. If you do not wish to use Auto Focus, simply tap on the 75mm touchscreen for Touch focus that lets you focus on what you desire. If slow-mo videos are more of your style, the camera can shoot up to 24 frames per second with up to 233 continuous shots. You can also shoot in 4K, as the camera comes packed with HDR (HLG) support, the first in Cyber-shot cameras. A viewfinder is still present on the camera if you wish to use it instead of the touchscreen.
When shooting, the Optical SteadyShot can be turned on to provide you with image stabilisation that will compensate for camera shakes when you are shooting handheld in low-light conditions. You can also mute the camera shutter sound when you need to shoot at noise-sensitive settings such as weddings and so on. You can pair the camera with your the PlayMemories Mobile app on your phone to keep track of location data.
Throughout the demo, we loved how compact the camera was and how much it can zoom in. Even the autofocus is zippy and precise, as noted in the pictures below.
All of these power packed into a 101.6×58.1×42.8mm body, weighing only 301g. Currently, the RX100 VI compact camera is available to purchase from all Sony authorised retailers and shops, and priced at RM4,899. Aside from the camera, they also showcased a new shooting grip, the VCT-SGR1, priced at only RM399. The grip can be used by RX0 and RX100 series cameras, and will be available come 13th of August.
