Get Your Game On

Gaming monitors are now so wide in abundance that it’s so hard to choose from all the different choices out there. Do you want an IPS, TN, or even VA panel? Each of them have their pros and cons, so we’re here to help you out. There are a few monitors out there that stand out, but there’s also a lot of monitors that just can’t make it. This time, we believe that we’ve found one of the best choices available.

Recently, the ViewSonic XG3240C has caught our eye and lo and behold we have it in our test lab this month. The XG3240C is a 32-inch monitor, with an actual viewing space that is closer to 31.5-inches. For a screen as large as 32-inches, it’s great that they decided to go with a 2560 x 1440 resolution over 1080p, since a large screen at 1080p would probably show some form of pixellation. That isn’t a problem, as it can deliver sharp text and pictures at 1440p.

When it comes to colours, the monitor uses a VA panel that produces great colours. Though not as vibrant as IPS panels, VA panels have greater contrast levels, so you could say it’s better for gaming. They also have great viewing angles like IPS panels, and the other advantage of having a VA panel is their quicker response time. This can be seen with the monitor’s 3ms response time, which FPS players find important when playing competitively.

The monitor also has a refresh rate of 144Hz, which translates to smoother and fluid gameplay. 144Hz on the XG3240C is great, allowing us to see the obvious difference between 60Hz and 144Hz easily. Honestly, games just feel a lot better and play a lot better on 144Hz. Even after long hours of gaming and watching movies we didn’t really feel any eye strain, something that we attribute to Viewsonic’s Flicker-free technology, and should be something everyone should look out for.

CHIP CONCLUDE: We really love the XG3240C as a gaming monitor, it has everything we could ask for in the perspective of a gamer and more.
