Tempered glass has been the in thing lately, along with open rigs as well as small form factor cases. Nothing looks as great as a beautifully built PC in an elegant case, which has strong tempered glass displaying your hard work to the masses. That’s exactly what the Lian Li Alpha 550 case does, so it’ll definitely make even the modders happy.
The Alpha 550 is a mid tower chassis that sports four sides of tempered glass. The sides, front and top are built with beautiful clear tempered glass that shows off its tidy insides. Up front you get a panel that sports your usual headphone and mic jack, along with two USB 3.0 ports and a single USB 3.1 Type-C port. Behind the panel is the tempered glass and dust filter followed by three 120mm Bora RGB fans by Lian Li.
Right from the get go you have enough fans to build your entire rig, not to mention an integrated RGB controller provided so all you’ll ever need in the future is to get compatible RGB fans. There is enough room up top to mount a 360mm radiator for cooling and at the back you get an additional regular 120mm fan. On the inside you’ll be able to easily fit all your parts with the ample space provided. There’s also a lot of room for cable management.
You can hide cables and your PSU under the cover that spans across the casing at the bottom. Lian Li had water cooling in mind when they designed this case, which is apparent by a dedicated reservoir mount near the front of the casing. The casing is actually quite heavy at a whopping 13.2kg but most of the weight is attributed to the tempered glass panels, which are quite thick. You would have to be careful when carrying this heavy case around.
