Ultra-Wide, Curved And Beautiful

The ASUS MX34VQ monitor comes in dazzling silver around the bottom of the monitor, and has an almost bezel-less display. Aside from the display, the first thing you will notice is a Qi logo at the base of the monitor. Unsurprisingly, it is a wireless charger for your smartphone and other wireless devices. To us, this is a fantastic addition to a monitor. When you are charging the device, the base of the monitor will light up as well. This allows you quick access to your device, and you can glance at it to see if a call is important enough to answer.

The 8-watt speakers on the monitor is rich and clear, as it is tuned by Harman Kardon. It can also be used with the ASUS SonicMaster technology, allowing you to tune the modes of the speaker just by going into the menu and tweaking it that way. By selecting User Mode, you can manually customise the audio settings to your own liking. However, if speakers are not your thing, then you can just simply plug in your headphones to the 3.5mm jack at the back of the monitor. Navigating the monitor is also a bliss, as it utilises a 5-way OSD Navigation Joystick that is located under the display.

The display is gorgeous to look at. It is curved to offer you an immersive viewing experience and, with 178-degree view so you can glance at the monitor at any angle. Note that like all ultra-wide monitors, some of the games or movies that you watch will be stretched out on this monitor.

Included with the monitor is a plethora of ASUS features such as ASUS Flicker-free to ensure that the monitor will not flicker, thus reducing eye strain when working for a long period of time, and ASUS SplendidPlus for enhanced contrast and sharpness. Of course, you can also choose from a few pre-configured mode such as Reading and Darkroom, depending on your requirements.
As for gaming, this monitor comes packed with a 100Hz refresh rate and has AMD FreeSync compatibility. If you’re using an AMD GPU, it will help keep your game smooth by reducing the motion lag that will hamper your gaming experience. Since it’s a monitor that is made for professionals, you can also configure it to organise your windows for a better workflow.

Overall, it is a wonderful curved monitor that helps with your workflow, looks elegant enough to be an art piece on your table, has Qi wireless charging capabilities, and comes with stereo speakers tuned by Harman Kardon. However, it is on the pricier side, which makes it not so ”average consumer” friendly.

CHIP CONCLUDE: A great monitor for those who can splurge, as it can offer you increased productivity and is jam-packed with features that will help you work for longer without straining your eyes.
