Breathing Vigor Into Your Game
MSI’s newest keyboard is built to shine and comes garnished with cherries on top for the gamer-centric users. This is a full-sized keyboard and the one we received for review is of the ANSI (US) layout. As mentioned, it is a full-sized keyboard so you have your standard fare numpad on the right. It also comes with four media key buttons on the top right of the keyboard, and even has a USB pass-through port for your other USB peripherals. If you wish, you could charge your devices with it as well, albeit at a slower speed since it is only 500 mAh, according to MSI’s official site.
The keys on the Vigor are raised, making them easier to clean and remove with the help of keycap pullers. The switches are Red Cherry MX, so they’re a fair compromise for both gaming and typing. It is also rather quiet compared to Blue Cherry MX keys. The keyboard sports a metal body, making it one of the heavier ones that we’ve tested. When we unboxed the keyboard, the WASD were already replaced with a silver coloured keycaps with accents at the bottom of the key. This allows you to focus on your gaming and navigating your fingers to the correct keys with the help of the accents. Moreover, it comes packaged with a weighty wrist rest that can be connected to the bottom of the keyboard.
Like other gaming peripherals in the market, RGB plays an important part to the overall aesthetic of the keyboard. In this case, the keys can be individually customised and highlighted. You can also easily change the lighting mode of the keyboard without the help of additional software, as you can simply do so by pressing the FN Key + Left/Right Keys. There’s a ripple mode that changes the colours of the keys as you press them. If you hold a key, the colour will pick up speed and rapidly change colours. At the bottom of the keyboard, you can also find some RGB accents that will brighten up your desk further with colour. You can also combine it with MSI’s RGB Mystic Light and synchronise different RGB components together. If you are using other MSI products such as GPU and Motherboard, you can control them and trigger different modes using FN Key + INS/HOME/PGUP buttons. This allows you to increase the power of your GPU, for example, all without needing to switch out of the game.
CHIP CONCLUDE: Overall, a decent gaming keyboard with RGB capabilities and even comes with a wrist rest. It also comes with special keys that can trigger other MSI components, definitely a plus for MSI fans.
