In Your Home, Or In The Office

A family could always benefit from a mini-PC. Why? A mini-PC not only leaves behind a small footprint, but it also has everything you need to use as a HTPC. In fact, Mini-PC’s these days tend to have desktop level performance, so you won’t have to compromise performance for portability. This makes them ideal for offices, as well as for digital signage or information kiosks.

The ASUS VivoMini UN65U sports an Intel Core i5-7200U and 4GB of DDR4 RAM. Combined, the UN65U gave us pretty decent benchmarks from PCMark 8. Within our testing period we used everything a normal PC user would use. Such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PDF readers, and also the occasional media player. The UN65U worked without a hitch and didn’t reveal anything that compromised our experience.

Customisation for the UN65U is made easy and all you need is a screwdriver. Just remove the rubber feet, remove the screws and pop out the cover. You’ll get instant access to all the modules that will allow you upgrade or replace your HDD, SSD, RAM, M.2 SSD. Design wise the UN65U does a great job looking sleek and simplistic, while the VESA mount is just the cherry on top allowing for so much more placements to pick from.

The UN65U supports multiple displays and works with a multitude of display options, ranging from TV’s to monitors and projectors. Using HDMI and DisplayPort++ you can have up to three displays giving you more screen space to multi-task. Additionally, the mini-PC has plenty of connectivity to ensure you’ll always have enough USB ports. Both the front and back of the UN65U houses two USB 3.0 ports, with the front USB 3.0 ports sporting ASUS’ BC 1.2 fast charging technology for quicker charging of your mobile devices.

The UN65U is a quiet mini-PC, barely making any noise throughout our review while temperatures stayed low regardless of usage. The 4-in-1 card reader is a welcome addition as well, and will allow families and photographers to show their videos or pictures instantly.

CHIP CONCLUDE: Need a small PC for home use or even for office use? Look no further than the ASUS VivoMini UN65U, a great mix of performance, portability, style and functionality.
