On the 15th of March, AMD announced the imminent arrival of the Ryzen 5, following in the footsteps of Ryzen 7, which recorded multiple sold-out orders from distributors due to its amazing performance straight out of the box. Made with the same principle with the Ryzen 7, the price Ryzen 5 is set to a disruptive level with its price to performance bargain.

The Ryzen 5 will still feature the Zen architecture, but in a 6-core and 12-thread, or a 4-core and 8-thread SKU instead of the ones on the Ryzen 7’s 8-cores and 16-threads. Jim Anderson, the senior vice president and general manager for AMD’s Computing and Graphics Group, mentions that the Ryzen will absolutely bring new innovation and competition to the PC market, with Ryzen 5 taking the step into the fray.

The Ryzen 5 will be coming out with 4 models, namely the 1600X, 1600, 1500X and 1400. The Ryzen 5 1600X and Ryzen 5 1600 will feature the aforementioned 6-core, 12-thread, with 1600X featuring a higher base clock at 3.6GHz and boosted clock of up to 4.0GHz, as well as a TDP of 95 watts.  As for the 1600, it rolls out with a 3.2GHz base clock, which can be boosted up to 3.6 GHz, all with a TDP of 65 watts.

For the Ryzen 5 1500X and 1400, they will be come with 4-cores and 8-threads. The 1500X features a 3.5GHz base clock and a boosted 3.7GHz. Finally, the 1400 is clocked at a 3.2GHz base and 3.4GHz at boost. Both the 1500X and 1400 will have a TDP of 65 watts, similar to the 1600. Cooler wise, The AMD Ryzen 5 1600 and 1500X will have a Wraith Spire cooler included. As for the Ryzen 5 1400, it will come with a Wraith Stealth cooler instead. No coolers are included for the 1600X.
