Lenovo has today launched the new Moto Z and Moto Z Play, some of the most sought-after smartphones that were shown off at IFA 2016 in Berlin. The event saw Lenovo revealing the new Moto Z, a durable yet razor thin smartphone and at only 5.2mm makes it one of the most, if not the thinnest premium smartphone. The body is made from military aircraft-grade aluminium and stainless steel, and features a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display.
A powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, coupled with 4GB of RAM allows the Moto Z to run smoothly. But having just powerful hardware today doesn’t mean it’ll make the cut, that’s why the Moto Z comes with a high-resolution 13MP camera which sports an aperture of f/1.8 and optical image stabilisation with laser autofocus. The front-facing 5MP camera on the other hand comes with a front flash and a wide angle lens for great selfies and groupfies even when there’s a lack of light.
You can go all day without needing to stop and recharge thanks to a 2600mAh battery that gives you up to 24 hours of battery life, and even when low the Moto Z is capable of getting up to 7 hours of power in a single 15 minute charge with TurboPower. Furthermore, the Moto Z comes with water-repellent coating and keeps you protected from rain, splashes, or spills.
The other smartphone launched at the event was the Moto Z Play that comes with Moto’s longest lasting smartphone battery ever. The device features a thin, lightweight design with a solid aluminium frame and elegant glass back. The Moto Z Play with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 and 3GB of RAM, you’ll have enough power and performance to multi-task your way through the day.
The Moto Z Play features a 5.5-inch display like the Moto Z, but only sports Full HD resolution instead of Quad. But on the other hand the Moto Z Play comes with a 16MP camera with Laser and PDAF autofocus for great photos, and the 5MP front camera will definitely be suitable for taking selfies and groupfies, with its wide-angle lens and front LED flash. Finally, the Moto Z Play has a 3510mAh battery that supports TurboPower charging that allows you to get more charge in less time on and already long lasting battery.
If you think that’s the end then you’re absolutely wrong, Lenovo had more in store and revealed the Moto Mods. Special add-ons and magnetically attached mods allow you to seamlessly add advanced functionalities to the Moto Z and Moto Z Play. Give the Moto Z’s a boost with powerful stereo sound from the JBL SoundBoost, or enjoy a movie or your favourite show with the Moto Insta-Share Projector that turns your Moto Z’s into a 70-inch movie projector.
If the power packing Moto Z Play just isn’t enough, there’s always the option of an Incipio offGRID Power Pack that can add up to 20 hours of life to your phone. And for every user with different tastes and styles, transform your phone to fit your style with beautifully designed Moto Style Shells. But the biggest and most interesting Moto Mod is definitely the Hasselblad True Zoom that adds an advanced imaging functionality to the Moto Z’s. Adding 10x optical zoom and a Xenon flash for crisp and blur-free pictures, and an added bonus for photographers is the ability to capture in RAW format.
