For The Selfie Expert

Like it or not, one major consideration that almost, if not everyone has when it comes to buying a brand new smartphone is its camera’s capabilities. Be it for food photos or selfies, the camera has become a ubiquitous part of the device, placing it just as important as its ability to make calls and connect to the internet. For such people, OPPO has just the thing with the OPPO F1s.

The OPPO F1s sports a 5.5 inch display with a HD display, powered by a 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor, with 3GBs of RAM and 32GBs of storage space, which is expandable via a MicroSD card. It also runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the ColorOS 3.0 UI on top.

As far as design goes, the OPPO F1s is one of the sleekest devices we’ve seen this year. The display utilises a 2.5D Gorilla Glass 4 screen which is very scratch resistant, while the two threaded metallic bands on the top and bottom of the phone gives it a very premium look.

The main focus of the F1s however are the cameras on the front and back. The rear-facing camera is a 13.0MP shooter with a 1/3.06 inch sensor that allows it to take some pretty amazing shots, regardless of lighting conditions. The large pixels also help bump up the dynamic range of images, providing users clear and detailed photos.

The front-facing camera meanwhile is a 16.0MP shooter. True to its name of being a selfie-expert camera, there are a number of useful features that users can utilise to take the best selfie and wefie shots on the F1s. These include Beautify 4.0, a feature that is collated from facial data of millions of users. Blemish reduction, the main feature of Beautify 4.0 has been refined to ensure more natural-looking shots.

Filters have also been reworked to include a variety of options, such as Café, Bright, Soft, Fade and Mono, so users can add colour temperature to photos, time, date, and more. If you’re looking to take selfies with a large group, the Panorama Selfie feature also makes a return. All you need to do is to turn on the panorama feature with the selfie camera on and you’re off to take some amazing looking shots.

Peformance-wise, the MediaTek processor and 3GBs of RAM is enough to tackle on most tasks, including watching HD videos and play a few games. The 3,075mAh battery does a good job at keeping the phone alive throughout most of the day with your typical level of usage which includes browsing, social media posts, video watching and a spot of Pokemon Go.

CHIP CONCLUDE: The OPPO F1s truly shines as its tagline implies. The cameras’ image quality does look pretty good throughout, and the overall performance is nothing to scoff at either. Definitely one to consider if you’re looking to get an affordable phone with good features.
