Feeling A Bit Feverish?

We don’t see much phones from Wiko, but we think that’s about to change. Wiko has released a bunch of phones and we are definitely jumping on the Wiko bandwagon to try them out. This time round Wiko sent us their FEVER model, and it’s time to see if Wiko has what it takes to enter the ever-growing smartphone market.

The Wiko FEVER is a 5.2-inch FHD 1920×1080 smartphone powered by a MediaTek 6753 with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage expandable by microSD. The back cover has a soft leather-ish texture which is pleasant to touch and the curves of the body make it nice to handle. The phone sports an IPS display screen and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to resist those pesky scratches. Another feature the FEVER has is their Full Lamination system which reduces the gap between the lens and the display to a minimum for a thinner and more responsive experience.

The FEVER runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and runs smoothly without a hitch, our everyday experience being with no problems when doing activities ranging from web browsing to navigating the apps. The 13MP back camera focuses quickly and has a nice bright flash for low light pictures, the camera also has a lot of different modes to play with such as HDR and Panorama. A feature we found interesting was the Dual View mode that allowed us to take videos with the back camera while the front camera does the same, this feature gave us quite a bit of fun.

The 5-megapixel front camera takes pretty good selfies but really shines when you play with the Wide Selfie function, and it shines even more brightly literally with its front ‘selfie flash’. One unique thing about the FEVER is that it glows in the dark, but only along the glow in the dark lines. At first we thought why would Wiko add a feature such as this? We found it useful for one thing, which is finding the phone in the dark.

If you have two sim-cards fret not as the Wiko FEVER comes with dual-sim function which we rarely see on a phone of this class. We think it’s a great addition especially for the current generation, who are now more often if not subscribed on different telcos for their different coverage areas and data rate. The 2,900mAh battery is pretty good if you’re not constantly checking social media or messaging all-day. But we would recommend a power bank if that’s something you do, but that’s to be expected of a battery of that size, not much different than other smartphones.

CHIP CONCLUDE: We think the Wiko FEVER is a unique smartphone, it has the performance to get through your everyday life, and has some nice quirks like the Dual View mode and that it glows in the dark. Functions are pretty good, and you should keep your eye on this phone as an option.
