For The Best Gaming Visuals

ASUS has been in the monitor space for quite some time now, and launching displays meant for hardcore gaming is something they’re very familiar with as well. As gaming tech continues to grow, so does the company’s desire to release the biggest and the best products money can buy. This time around, that thing is the ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q G-Sync monitor.

As the model name implies, the ROG Swift PG279Q is a 27 inch monitor, with a WQHD resolution of 2,560×1,440 pixels. The monitor features support for NVIDIA’s G-Sync video technology which eliminates stuttering framerates when playing fast-paced games at higher resolutions. The monitor also sports an IPS display, so not only do games look bright and vibrant, you can also view the display at almost any angle without having to worry about discolouration and glare.

As far as input options go, the ROG Swift PG279Q features one HDMI port and one DisplayPort. Other I/O ports on the monitor include two USB 3.0 port, as well as a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones or speakers.

Most G-Sync, or even FreeSync monitors have a high refresh rate of 144Hz to counter the stutter that could happen when the GPU and monitor go out of sync with each other, but the ROG Swift PG279Q sports a 165Hz refresh rate, completely removing motion blur, allowing you to react quickly to what happens on screen.

As mentioned before, the ROG Swift PG279Q has an IPS screen, and this, combined with support for 100 percent of sRGB colour gamut. This is especially great for designers and gamers who require things on monitor to be colour-accurate for a variety of reasons. Coupled with the monitor’s amazing viewing angles, you can easily show gameplay footage or a work in progress without having to adjust the monitor to accommodate peculiar viewing angles.

Gaming on the ROG Swift PG279Q is a feast for the eyes. We tested games such as Tomb Raider, FarCry 4 and Call of Duty, and the visuals were simply stunning. There was not a hint of graphic lag or screen-tearing throughout our playthroughs, and everything was shown in buttery smooth FPS, all thanks to NVIDIA’s G-Sync.

CHIP CONCLUDE: The ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q G-Sync monitor is an amazing gaming monitor that elevates your gaming experience to the next level. No doubt it will be pricey no thanks to the G-Sync module built-in, but if you’re looking to maximise your gaming experience, this is one monitor you can’t go wrong with.
