In the last few years, Huawei has been growing at a tremendous pace and the manufacturer of wireless technology and gadgets has no intention to slow down. Just yesterday, Huawei launched its brand new premium smartphone – the Huawei Mate 8 – at a grand event at KL Convention Centre. Malaysia is one of the first in the region to get Huawei’s latest premium smartphone.
Luke Au, Product Marketing Direct (Handset) for Huawei Consumer Business Group, declared that Huawei’s goal this year is become a new choice and style for consumers. From its large 6-inch display, sleek aluminium body, and refined design, the Mate 8 certainly doesn’t lack style. Overlaid on the front is a 2.5D glass, seamlessly melding with the device’s aluminium build to create a solid body can shrug off casual knocks. At 7.9mm thin, it’s really slim too and weighs at 185g, yet sports a large 6-inch display.
To power the its new premium smartphone, Huawei used its latest Kirin 950 chip. It promises greater performance level at a lower power drain, which when combined with the smartphone’s massive 4,000 mAh battery, allows it to last up to 2.36 days on a full charge depending on usage. In addition, it supports quick charging and is able to provide approximately a full day of battery life with just 30 minutes of charging.
Security features are aplenty on the Mate 8, with a new generation of fingerprint sensor there to keep the device safe from intrusions. The Mate 8 also has a firewall for additional protection, a 16-megapixel camera with OIS for amazing photos, and runs on Huawei’s highly customised EMUI 4.0 OS for Android ‘Lollipop’ 6.0.
