Stay Focused Even When Moving

It has been said that the millennials and gen Y in the current workforce prefer greater freedom in their workplace. They always want to be on the move and can’t stand sitting in an office for long periods of time and prefer open spaces. To cater for this new generation of workforce, Plantronics brings us the Plantronics Voyager Focus UC, a Bluetooth unified communications headset.

Sporting Bluetooth 4.1, the Voyager works from distances up to 30 meters and has adaptive power to tune power usage according to distance from device. It also features Active Noise Cancelling where ambient noise is fed into the microphone and is then reversed to reduce noise form your surroundings. Not to mention, it has a nifty smart sensor technology which can detect when your headsets are on and off your ears and will pause and resume music accordingly.

The earpads on the Voyager Focus UC has memory foam for long-lasting comfort when using the Voyager. The headband is made to tighten comfortably around your ears to allow a better seal so you can hear less of the outside. Not only that, the microphone can be used as a switch to change the orientation of the left and right drivers so however you wear the headset left can always be left and right can always be right.

Additionally, there is a docking station that comes with the headset and acts as a headphone stand and a charging station. When it came to testing, the Voyager works like a charm. It sits comfortably on our ears even after long hours of work. If we had to stand up and pick up something or grab something to drink we don’t have to worry about any wires and could leave our headset on basically almost all the time.

The microphone quality is superb, dictation from speech to text is very accurate and could be the next big thing. Moving on to the Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) feature, the ANC function works great to get rid of that aircon hum or slight whirr of fans, but during music listening sessions the music sounds very heavy and fatigues our ears easily, so it would be better to listen to music with the ANC off. Some other things we should mention is the Dynamic Mute Alert that alerts you when you’re speaking with the mic muted and the great battery life that comes with the adaptive power.

CHIP CONCLUDE: In the office taking video calls or just regular VoIP, the microphone is great and should carry your voice across with clarity. Light, comfortable and portable the Plantronics Voyager Focus UC fits the needs of the current generation in the enterprise world.
