Small But Stands Tall

Routers that come together when you register with an ISP are decent and are usually enough for day to day use. But there are times when the router’s wireless range just isn’t cutting it for your house with many walls rooms and walls. So naturally you’d look for a new router, and you you’ll need one with big range to have entire coverage of your home. With the release of the RT-N12HP users have been asking for an ADSL interface and ASUS delivers.

Jump into the ASUS DSL-N12HP, a great basic and easy-to-use router that comes with two 9dBi high gain antennas for wider wireless coverage and combines both a modem and router together into a single device. The modem router supports Streamyx and UniFi and is easy to setup, so you won’t need much computer knowledge to get it up and running. MIMO is present on the router at 2.4GHz 2×2 while the router’s operating frequency is 2.4GHz. We should also mention that this is the first 9dBi high-gain antenna DSL model available.

Setting up the router was quick and easy, connect all the corresponding cables to the router, and the router into the computer. From there access the router through your web browser by keying in the default gateway and you are welcomed by a web-based interface. After entering your login credentials, it will then proceed to setup your Wireless SSID so the rest of your home/office can connect to the internet.

With the setup out of the way and the internet up and running, we tested the coverage and had satisfying results. With the two 9dBi antennas, the range available from the router is excellent, reaching throughout the office and home with a constant “Very Strong” or “Excellent” wireless strength. You can also setup multiple SSID’s which allows for flexible wireless access control, such as creating SSID’s for guests and for your personal use.

For parents who wish to control your children’s internet access, the DSL-N12HP allows you to do exactly that. Get your child’s MAC Address from his/her device and you can set a time restriction based on days and also when to start and end the blocking time. If you just want your child to not visit certain sites it can also be done through the routers URL Filter function.

CHIP CONCLUDE: Whether at home or at the office, the DSL-N12HP does everything you need a modem and router to do and does it brilliantly without a hitch.
