Is This Alien Technology?

AOC partnered with Twentieth Century Fox to become the official monitor partner of “The Martian”, and marking the company’s first ever product placement in a major Hollywood film. Celebrating the movie’s release, AOC launched the AOC G2460PF monitor on the same day to commemorate the momentous event.

Getting on to the monitor, the AOC G2460PF is a 24-inch display which uses a TN panel and has a resolution of 1920×1080. Together with a 1ms response time and a refresh rate of 144Hz, the monitor displays images fluidly with no motion blur. Sporting a red and black motif the monitor looks incredible, and has a very “spacey” feel. It is also capable of swivelling vertically while raising and lowering the monitor uses a certain kind of spring mechanism which makes the action smoother.

The monitor features AOC’s FlickerFree Technology which uses Direct Current to constantly power the backlight to eliminate flicker. Did we forget to mention that the monitor supports AMD’s FreeSync? With a compatible AMD graphic card you can unleash its full potential with FreeSync Technology and reduces screen tearing even at high framerates. FreeSync works by syncing the monitor’s refresh rate to the refresh rate that is being output by the graphic card, therefore eliminating the de-syncing between both pieces of hardware.

The AOC G2460PF also sports a USB hub which can used to connect up to 4 USB devices and peripherals. The ports don’t feel flimsy, so we could tell some detail was put into them

And with everything connected and running we played the latest Star Wars Battlefront demo,. With so much action going on-screen, it looked gorgeous. Playing at 144Hz you can tell the difference instantly from a 60Hz monitor, but only if you have a graphic card that can hit the required frames.

The fluidity and feel is entirely different and feels incredibly smooth and feels more immersive. Also testing it with Battlefield 4, the large open map is rendered beautifully and watching the jets and helicopters flying by is a real treat. If you’re looking for a monitor with beautiful graphics and great implementation of the 144Hz refresh rate, look no further.

CHIP CONCLUDE: If you are willing to invest a little more into a monitor like this you won’t regret it. Together with AMD’s FreeSync they make a mean combination keeping the screen from tearing when you’re enjoying your gaming sessions.
