A while back, monitor manufacturer AOC held Facebook contests for its fans to stand a chance to win a free trip for two to the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, USA. The contest was held in conjunction with the movie The Martian, and saw over 10,000 entrants from across 10 countries in the Asia Pacific region.
The competition included activities such as taking pictures at The Martian 3D photo booths (“Strike a Pose & Win”), re-enactment of “The Martian” movie scenes (“Act It Out & Win”), identifying AOC logos in the trailer (“Watch & Win”), and identifying AOC products in the film (“Find AOC & Win”). Competitors could then post their entries onto Facebook with the hashtag #TheMartianAOCcontest to be eligible.
Many contestants managed to win limited edition “The Martian” merchandise, but only one could win the Grand Prize: a free trip for two to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA, which included a return flight from the winner’s country, multiple nights’ luxury accommodation in Orlando, Florida, USA, and an exclusive Two-Day Space Adventure at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
The tour includes the opportunity to meet an astronaut, a guided tour of space facilities, and participation in an array of immersive experiential programs. The Grand Prize Winner was finally revealed to be Chiu Ya Ting from Taiwan, who won via lucky draw. She was shortlisted into the draw by successfully spotting and counting AOC logo appearances in the official movie trailer (“Watch & Win”).
