The world of gaming has grown to something that no one would ever have expected. Gaming is no longer just a hobby, to many it’s a way of life. The GIGABYTE Z170X-Gaming G7 is one of the many gifts they wish to bestow upon gamers. Built and designed with the gamer in mind, all of their vision and drive packed into a motherboard to usher in a new generation (6th-generation Skylake Intel Core Processors).

The Z170X-Gaming G7 will support the latest 6th-generation Intel Core Processors and DDR4 RAMs. Sporting 4x DDR4 Dual-channel DIMM sockets the motherboard will support up to 64GB of RAM with speeds ranging from 2133MHz to 3866MHz(overclocked).

Storage wise the G7 features 8x SATA3 6Gb/s(2x AHCI mode only), 3x SATA Express , 2x M.2 Socket 3 connectors and supports RAID 0,1,5,10. The M.2 Socket 3 are PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2, delivering up to 32Gb/s data transfer speed per connector that’s perfect for your SSD’s, and even supports RAID modes. Meanwhile the board also supports full-length graphic cards and up to 2-way NVIDIA SLi and 3-way AMD CrossfireX. Each PCIe x16 slot is reinforced with an innovative one piece stainless steel shielding to provide extra strength to support heavy graphics cards.

USB ports are aplenty and should have many still open even after connecting all your accessories, and really impressed us with the USB DAC-UP feature that promises clean and noise-free power delivery to Digital to Analog Converter (DAC). It does this by using an isolated power source that minimizes potential fluctuations as DACs are sensitive to fluctuations in power from other USB ports. This really shows us how much GIGABYTE appreciates audio, which makes us very excited when they take it a step further.

The Z170X Gaming 7 is one of GIGABYTE’s top of the line products both in terms of features and performance, and it shows during our tests. The Turbo B-Clock feature in particular allowed us to overclock to a value of our choosing, allowing us to maximise the clockspeed of the CPU without having to worry about going overboard and crashing.

The LED Trace Path feature also lets users choose between seven different colours, if PC modding is more of your thing. It also comes with a variety of lighting modes, which can accentuate your custom PC’s looks even further, making it the envy of many.

CHIP CONCLUDE: The Z170X Gaming G7 is a great motherboard that features a number of excellent features, and has good performance to boot.
