ASUS has announced the ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Impact and Maximus VIII Extreme as their latest additions to their line of Z170 motherboards. The Maximus VIII Impact is a mini-ITX motherboard with ATX-grade performance for enthusiast gamers, and engineered and tested for the best compatibility with both mini-ITX case designs and CPU coolers. While the Maximus VIII Extreme is their latest flagship motherboard loaded with exclusive overclocking and gaming features.
Based on the new Intel Z170 Express chipset and LGA 1151 socket for the latest sixth-generation Intel processors, the Maximus VIII Impact and Extreme offers extreme overclocking performance and features in the form of mini-ITX and E-ATX motherboards. Both motherboards feature 5-Way Optimisation auto-tuning for instant performance boosts, and Pro Clock to push base-clock frequencies further than ever before.
ASUS’ 5-Way Optimisation sorts all the complex settings with a click, for instant, highly controllable performance boosts. This exclusive technology dynamically optimises essential aspects of Maximus VIII motherboards by monitoring real-time use, and delivering superb CPU performance, everyday energy savings, ultra-stable digital power, cool and quiet fans and even networking and audio settings tailored for the apps currently in use.
The Pro Clock technology is an ASUS exclusive dedicated base-clock generator, designed for sixth-generation Intel processors that allows Maximus VIII motherboards to overclock base-clock frequencies to 400MHz and beyond. Pro Clock works in tandem with TurboV Processing Unit (TPU) to enhance voltage and base-clock overclocking control. Boot times can be reduced, jitter is lowered and stability is increased even when under heavy overclocking.
Coupled together with Maximus VIII motherboards’ LANGuard’s signal-coupling technology and premium surface mounted components ensures reliable connections and better throughput.. Also the Maximus VIII Impact is able to deliver next level 802.11ac WiFi with 2×2 dual band 2.4GHz/5GHz antennas for up to 867Mbit/s transfer speeds. Together with the very latest Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO) technology to ensure that every connected user, experiences the best wireless and online speeds.
Both motherboards also feature NVM Express (NVMe), a revolutionary specification that unlocks the full potential of the latest SSD’s with both boards sporting U.2 connectors. This allows for easy plug-and-play ease for data-transfer speeds of up to 32Gbit/s, and frees up a PCIe slot for another expansion card. The boards are also USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A and reversible Type-C compatible with connectors for data-transfer speeds of up to 10Gbit/s making it twice as fast as USB 3.0.
