A Little Powerhouse
The trend of small factor computing has bloomed over the years and each year we see many more of these devices popping up on our local IT store shelves. The MSI Cubi Mini PC however comes with a small yet interesting form which is bundle packed with features and functionality.
Straight out from the box is a clandestine white device that has a total of four USB 3.0 ports, a HDMI port and a Mini Display port which allows you to plug in a 4K monitor output which has rarely been seen before in a mini PC. It has a single audio jack and Ethernet LAN cable keeping the connectivity to a positive high. Within the packaging, is also another useful piece of hardware which is the VESA mount which allows you to place this device behind any supported monitors for a clean, tidy look.
One of the main features of this device is its ability to work anywhere, as it is a perfect fit for different uses, plus it also gives users an added option of adding an extra 2.5-inch HDD for expanded storage. It has an Ultra HD 4K support which allows you to watch the highest quality movies within the confines of the living room. It can also support multiple displays which add to the flexibility of the device. Additionally, the device is amazingly quiet as it is built with an excellent thermal design with a low noise level of 21.7 dB.
During our benchmarks with the device, it has scored highly in the 3DMark CloudGate and Icestorm while PCMark 8 scores are above average. One of the main things that make this device a pleasure to have in the living room is the ease of connectivity as well as its size. However, we feel that the graphic components for the device could be taken up a notch because its integrated graphics unit makes certain tasks such as light gaming a challenge.
CHIP CONCLUDE: After all is said and done, the MSI Cubi is a low powered, space saving mini PC that deserves the living room or office spot. This device could be the perfect entertainment add-on for the comfort of your home.
