Panasonic, known for their rugged and reliable mobile computers announced today that they will adding new devices to their line of Toughbooks and Toughpads in the form of the Toughbook CF-MX4 and CF-54, as well as the Toughpad FZ-X1 For their Toughpad line.

The Toughbook CF-MX4 is a business-rugged laptop, while the Toughbook CF-54 is a semi-rugged laptop. Both will come together with Windows 8.1 but will be upgradable to Windows 10 in the future.


The Toughbook CF-MX4 features a 14-inch Full HD IPS display.

The CF-MX4 houses the latest 5th-generation Intel Core i5-5300U vPro processor, along with a 12.5 inch IPS Full HD capacitive 10-finger multi-touch display, a first ever for a business-rugged Toughbook. As for memory and storage the CF-MX4 will come with 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. There are also integrated options that are offered, such as dedicated GPS, mobile broadband with satellite GPS, antenna pass-through, and insert-able and contactless Smartcard readers.

Not only that, users can also go for an optional second battery with hot-swap features, that allows users to change the battery without the need to shut down or hibernate. Encased in magnesium alloy the CF-MX4 is ready to endure the knocks and scrapes that come with being on the go, and has been tested to withstand a 76cm fall and 100-kgf of pressurized vibration. Despite all its features and incredible durability, the CF-MX4 is only 21mm thick and 1.14kg in weight, making it slim and lightweight.

Meanwhile, the Toughbook CF-54 will also feature the i5-5300U vPro processor and a 14-inch Full HD Active Matrix (TFT) LCD. Using a honeycomb design, it has received MIL-STD 810G certification for its durability. As an added bonus it will have a spill-resistant keyboard and touchpad area. Memory wise the CF-54 will also have 4GB RAM, and a 500GB HDD. Encased in the same magnesium alloy chassis, the CF-54 offers a similar level of durability that you would enjoy with the CF-MX4.

The Toughpad FZ-X1 is the latest addition to Panasonic’s Toughpad line, housing a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm S4 Pro(APQ8064T) processor, with numerous unique enterprise-grade features such as an OS-based enhanced security, a 5-inch HD anti-reflective 10-point capacitive multi-touchscreen display that works even in the rain , 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of built-in storage. For its camera the FZ-X1 uses an 8-megapixel rear camera with flash and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. The device will be fully sealed against dust and is submersible in up to 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes.

The Toughbook CF-MX4, CF-54, and the Toughpad FZ-X1 are now available in Malaysia at the following RRP; the ToughBook CF-MX4 for $2349.00*, the ToughBook CF-54 for $1949.00*, and the ToughPad FZ-X1 for $1499.00*. All products will come with a comprehensive 3-year warranty.
