After the media preview earlier in the month, Samsung Malaysia has finally officially launched its brand new flagship smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge to the masses here in Malaysia.
The big launch happened at Samsung’s flagship store in Gardens Mid Valley Megamall, with pre-order customers seen lining up quite early in the morning to get their hands on the devices. Pre-orders for both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have been brisk since it was first opened on the 2nd of April 2015, with Samsung Malaysia announcing that the stock for its Gold Platinum Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge selling out even during the pre-order phase.
“We are pleased to announce the availability of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in Malaysia nationwide starting from today. We are confident that Malaysians will love both smartphones as we received a high number of participants for the “I want #myGalasyS6” contest, as well as the reception during the pre-order for these two phones. We are excited to announce that the Gold Platinum Galaxy S6 Edge is sold out, but we are restocking quickly to meet the demand from our consumers” said Lee Jui Siang, Vice President, Mobile, IT and Digital Imaging, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.
Also present at the public launch was brand ambassador Dato’ Lee Chong Wei to mark the official arrival of the new devices, to do a meet and greet with the customers, as well as giving away exclusive signed racquets to the first 50 pre-order customers and contest winners.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge retail at RM2,599 and RM3,099 respectively, and both prices are inclusive of the 6.0 percent GST tax. Both smartphones come with a built-in storage option of 32GBs, and colour options of White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz for the Galaxy S6 and Green Emerald for the Galaxy S6 Edge.
