Running On A Gaming Premium
There are a new generation of motherboards coming in the form of the Intel X99 chipset series and ASUS gives their customers the ultimate bang for their buck with the ASUS X99-Deluxe motherboard for the premium users.
At first glance, the design cover for the motherboard has changed from the traditional gold to sleek futuristic white, giving the motherboard a cutting edge look. Its CPU socket allows for the latest generation Intel Core Processors to be used and there are six PCIe expansion slots on the motherboard with five being a full physical x16 slot. It also has eight DIMM slots for up to 128GB DDR4 RAM allowing power users to boost their rig. Ports-wise, it has a wide variety of access points such as 10 total USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, two LAN ports, Wi-Fi antenna ports and two SATA Express ports with eight SATA 6Gb/s ports.
The motherboard comes with many features such as a unique cache bus voltage adjustment system that provides faster sub-system performance, the inclusion of the ASUS 5-Way Optimization which dynamically optimises the essential factors of your system and Fan Xpert 3 which scans each fans characteristic and delivers customised settings to each fan. The motherboard also highlights its Crystal Sound 2 audio optimisation which provides high quality audio for any purpose.
The motherboard shines best when it comes down to performance, as during our benchmarks using Futuremarks PCMark 8, the motherboard has scored decently in overall. Gamers will be impressed with the powerful networking provided by this motherboard which provides seamless online gaming and the ability to handle NVIDIA SLI support for those who aim to play games at the best quality. The UEFI BIOS is also a trademark of ASUS to which they make navigation painless and overclocking easy with the EZ Tuning Wizard.
CHIP CONCLUDE: As far as premium motherboards go, the ASUS X99-Deluxe are some of the latest ones on the market now and is a good choice for those who want to play with the newest toys. However, the price for premium goods is the premium price which is rather steep for those who does not need all the power, nonetheless, it provides the performance to back its value.
