It’s now officially! The Samsung GALAXY Note 4 is finally here in Malaysia and we’re sure many of you have been waiting for it and to some it will definitely be worth the wait as the latest expansion to the GALAXY Note series comes with a slew of improvements.
“The GALAXY Note series signalled extraordinary innovation within the technology industry. Its larger screen size and iconic S-Pen technology launched a new standard in smartphone culture,” said Lee Dong Yong, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics. “With the introduction of the GALAXY Note series, we brought the age-old culture of the pen and notepad into the digital world. The new GALAXY Note 4 introduces the most refined Note experience to-date b combining all the latest technology that users expect from the GALAXY series.”
At a glance, the device looks very similar to its predecessors, which is great as most GALAXY devices would be familiar with the device, but of course, Samsung went ahead and gave it a little something different this time around. Taking a page out of the design of the GALAXY Alpha, the GALAXY Note 4 also features a premium metal frame with fluid curvature that seamlessly blends with its display. The new flagship phablet also features a 2.5D glass screen, similar to the GALAXY S3 that offers extra protection, while perfectly complementing the device’s rich viewing experience. While the device is already premium enough, Samsung decided to retain the soft-texture back cover for that extra style and also comfort and superior grip to enhance durability. We definitely like the new feel of the device especially since it is enhanced with the new metal frame that makes it feel really sturdy compared to polycarbonate.
While its display size hasn’t changed from the GALAXY Note 3, the GALAXY Note 4’s 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display is now Quad HD (2,560 x 1,440) which means it has more pixel thus being able to reproduce clearer and more vivid images with deep contrast and better viewing angles. The response time of the screen is as fast as a millionth of a second, which makes watching HD and Full HD videos a truly breathtaking experience. Of course, like before, the large screen is a must have as the GALAXY Note 4 was designed for multi-tasking with the Multi Window feature.
Multi-tasking will definitely not be a problem for the GALAXY Note 4 as it comes with some very serious hardware. While there are actually two variants when it comes to the device, Malaysia will be getting the 1.9GHz Octa-Core (1.9GHz Quad + 1.3GHz Quad-Core) Exynos powered variant. Accompanying the processor is 3GB worth of RAM and an internal storage of 32GB. Storage can of course be further expanded via a microSD card up to 128GB. To ensure users remain productive throughout the day, the GALAXY Note 4 also comes with a 3,220mAh battery and the Fast Charging feature which makes it possible for the device to be charged up much faster. If you happen to be out and don’t have access to a charger or power socket, then the Ultra Power Saving mode will be a lifesaver.
Samsung understands the needs of consumers and this is why they have equipped the GALAXY Note 4 with a 16-megapixel auto focus rear camera with Smart Optical Image Stabilisation and a 3.7-megapixel front facing camera with an f/1.9 aperture to ensure that cameras get the best photos under any lighting conditions. Instead of just taking selfies, the front camera encourages wefies as at default it has a 90-degree shooting angle but can also go up to 120-degree wide.
As its defining feature, the S-Pen now offers users a much more authentic pen experience, with a more natural brush effect that perfectly emulates writing on paper. The S-Pen also now comes with a more user-friendly Air Command function and new Smart Select feature that enables users to easily piece together content from other material. On top of that, there’s also the new and innovative Photo Note feature that allows users to take pictures of their notes either on a paper or a board and then converting it into an S Note.
Other than the GALAXY Note 4, Samsung also launched their latest wearable, the Gear S, at the event today. This next-gen smart wearable device expands the smartphone experience to the wrist and now no longer needs to be paired with a smartphone as it supports 3G connectivity and wearable optimised features to meet the evolving needs of consumers.
“Samsung is leading this exciting and rapidly developing wearable category through progressive innovation,” said Lee Dong Yong. “The Samsung Gear S redefines the idea of smart wearable and the culture of mobile communication. It will let consumers live a truly connected life anywhere, anytime.”
The Gear S features a 2-inch curved Super AMOLED display that provides users with a richer view to the beautiful and easy-to-use user-interface. Its chic and curved design also makes it fit comfortably around the contours of the wrists, wile its customisable screen options and changeable straps helps users exude their own taste and style. The device is also IP67 certified which means it is weatherproof and can be used during exercise or outdoor activities.
