Another year, another GALAXY Note. It’s not a bad thing for consumers and geeks such as ourselves especially since Samsung’s phablet is always filled to the brim with the latest hardware and features from the Korean giants. Yes, although the pre-orders have already made their rounds, but today marks the official launch of the device in Malaysia. Other than the GALAXY Note 3, Samsung Malaysia Electronics, also introduced Samsung’s first wearable device, the GALAXY Gear, the perfect companion to the GALAXY Note 3.
“With the launch of the Samsung GALAXY Note 3 and GALAXY Gear, we are proud to set a new benchmark of innovation in the large screen mobile and wearable device category. Samsung’s ongoing smart device leadership reflects our commitment to listen to our consumers, who want their daily lives to be easier and more enjoyable. The devices enable users to tell the stories of their lives through dynamic and seamless expression of their passions across work, play and life experiences,” said Kwon Jae Hoon, Managing Director, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.
“Samsung GALAXY Gear benefits consumers by integrating smart device technology even deeper into their everyday lives, and bridges the gap between the mobile device and fashion worlds to create truly wearable technology,” added Kwon.
Like its predecessor, the GALAXY Note 3 is one of the most impressive devices in the market to-date. Despite the larger and wider 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, Samsung have once again found a way to make it slimmer as it is only 8.3mm thin and lighter as it weighs in at only 168g. But the impressiveness doesn’t just stop there as the GALAXY Note 3 sports a 3,200mAh battery, 13-megapixel rear camera with Smart Stabilisation and high CRI LED flash. Combine all that with a 2.3GHz Quad-Core CPU, 3GB worth of RAM , 32GB worth of internal storage and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and you have a very desirable device that allows users to achieve so much more in terms of productivity and entertainment. While Malaysian customers will only get the LTE version of the GALAXY Note 3, we are sure they won’t complain as it offers the latest LTE technology – CAT4 Carrier Aggregation and supports the greatest number of multiple frequencies.
Besides the new and improved hardware, The S Pen has also been given a slight redesign and a new feature known as Air Command. This new features adds a palette of five powerful features that makes life easier as there is no longer a need to toggle between screens, memorise commands or look up different menus. Multi-tasking has also been given a great enhancement as the GALAXY Note 3 now comes with the new Multi Window function where users can toggle seamlessly between applications without having to close the window or opening a new page. Other cool new features implemented into the GALAXY Note 3 include an improved Multi-Vision that allows users to share videos and play content together with five of their friends’ GALAXY Note 3 simultaneously, thus creating a “big screen” viewing experience.
Seeing as many companies are now adopting the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy, Samsung have also found a way to enhance privacy and security for the files stored in the GALAXY Note 3 with the introduction of Samsung KNOX. This new security feature essentially allows them to run and store security-sensitive applications for data inside a protected execution environment known as a “container”. The security inside the container is strengthened by system-level protection of Samsung KNOX against malware and phishing attacks as well as hacking attempts on physical devices when devices are stolen or lost.
As we mentioned earlier, launched alongside the GALAXY Note 3 is the GALAXY Gear, Samsung’s first ever wearable device that is also the perfect companion to the phablet. This cool gadget provides users with the freedom to choose how, why, when and where they are connected. The GALAXY Gear also provides users with notifications and gives them quick previews of incoming texts, emails and more from the GALAXY Note 3. The GALAXY Gear can even be used to answer calls an even record videos or take still images as there is a 1.9-megapixel camera located on the strap.
Both these devices will be available from September 25 onwards and can be purchased from Samsung’s retail outlets, authorised dealers and telco partners, which include Celcom, DiGi, Maxis and U Mobile. The Samsung GALAXY Note 3 has a recommended retail price of RM2,399 while the GALAXY Gear has a recommended retail price of RM999.
Finally, for customers who do purchase a GALAXY Note 3, Samsung Electronics Malaysia also has something very special in stored for you as they also announced the Samsung GALAXY Lifestyle Rewards. These rewards were made to help create more content and add value to people’s experience with their Samsung devices.
