Colour Me Secure

Colour laser printers are not cheap, but companies constantly want them as they’re not as messy compared to their inkjet counterparts, and not to mention longer lasting. The Fuji Xerox DocuPrint 305d colour laser printer is just one such printer.

There’s nothing much to talk about the DP305d in terms of looks, as it is as plain as printers go. A two line panel display, directional buttons, Eco and cancel buttons all adorn the top of the printer. At the bottom is the DP305d’s paper feeder that is capable of holding up to 250 pages of paper, allowing the printer to print a variety of media sizes that include A4,A5, B5, Letter, Envelopes and many more.

Printing-wise, the DP305d is capable of churning out 23 pages of black and white and colour prints per minute, with a first page out time of about 15 to 20 seconds, which is admittedly very performable. Being a laser printer, the DP305d is also quite the workhorse, with a duty cycle of 40,000 pages per month before needing to be serviced. It is, however, rather bulky.

Duplex printing is a big thing in the printing industry, and the DP305d does not disappoint by having the auto duplex printing feature which prints on both side of the paper when it is prompted. The DP305d is also a network printer, however it can only connect to one via a LAN cable, so we would recommend you to place the printer near the router access point.

When connected to the network, the DP305d has some additional security features which include password protection when printing, which allows only those with clearance to use the printer to print from it. You can even set the print job to be password-protected so that the job will only print when you key in the password.

CHIP CONCLUDE: The Fuji Xerox DocuPrint 305d does really well in churning colour prints with stunning contrast and sharpness. Print speed is also appropriately speedy; well suited fast productions. Duplex printing is a big bonus here, and even better is the security features set in place to ensure that the printer doesn’t get abused by unauthorised personnel.
